When James Bewyer was born in 1799, in Winston-Salem, Forsyth, North Carolina, United States, his father, Joseph Bewyer, was 22 and his mother, Barbara Petree, was 17. He married Mary Neat on 2 December 1824, in Adair, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 2 daughters. He died in 1834, at the age of 35.

1799 · Gold Nuggets Found

In 1799, in Little Meadow Creak located in Cabarrus County, North Carolina a large yellow ""rock"" was found by Conrad Reed. A few years later it was determined that the ""rock"" was a gold nugget.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.

War of 1812. U.S. declares war on Britain over British interference with American maritime shipping and westward expansion.
