He married Charlotte "Lotty" Young on 10 July 1816, in Sumner, Tennessee, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Madison, Illinois, United States for about 10 years and Marine Township, Madison, Illinois, United States in 1840. He died on 14 February 1850, in Saint Jacob, Madison, Illinois, United States, at the age of 56, and was buried in Dugger Cemetery, Saint Jacob, Madison, Illinois, United States.
