When Thomas Charles Hellyer II was born on 12 November 1799, in Hampshire, Virginia, United States, his father, Thomas Charles Hellyer I, was 23 and his mother, Cynthia Tucker Racey, was 18. He married Margaret Brewer on 31 May 1824, in Morgan, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Noble Township, Morgan, Ohio, United States in 1850 and Chariton Township, Appanoose, Iowa, United States in 1860. He died on 3 July 1882, in Iconium, Appanoose, Iowa, United States, at the age of 82, and was buried in Salem, Henry, Iowa, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.

1812 · Monumental Church Built

The Monumental Church was built between 1812-1814 on the sight where the Richmond Theatre fire had taken place. It is a monument to those that died in the fire.

1821 · Financial Relief for Public Land

A United States law to provide financial relief for the purchasers of Public Lands. It permitted the earlier buyers, that couldn't pay completely for the land, to return the land back to the government. This granted them a credit towards the debt they had on land. Congress, also, extended credit to buyer for eight more years. Still while being in economic panic and the shortage of currency made by citizens, the government hoped that with the time extension, the economy would improve.
