1754 · Seven Years' War
The Seven Years' War began as a North American conflict then stretched between England and France. Also possibly from East Woodhay (Hampshire) and West Woodhay (Berkshire), apparently named with Old English wīd ‘wide, broad’ as the initial element, confused with early Old English widu ‘wood’, and so too with Old English wudu.
