When Heinrich Aemmer was born on 21 September 1803, in Habkern, Bern, Switzerland, his father, Ulrich Aemmer, was 45 and his mother, Margaretha Zurbuchen, was 39. He married Elisabeth Blatter on 29 October 1822. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 12 April 1879, in his hometown, at the age of 75.
