When James Reed Fulton was born on 2 February 1747, in Articlave, County Londonderry, Ireland, his father, Abraham Fulton, was 35 and his mother, Margaret Guthry, was 29. He married Sarah Cochrane in 1772, in Articlave, County Londonderry, Ireland. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 4 daughters. He died in 1834, in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States, at the age of 87, and was buried in Fort Barr Cemetery, New Derry, Derry Township, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States.
