He married Gudrun Emilie Dreyer Johansen Sørvik on 19 January 1913, in Bremsnes, Møre og Romsdal, Norway. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. He died in 1954, in Bremsnes, Møre og Romsdal, Norway, at the age of 73.
