Name Meaning

Apparently of Celtic origin, but uncertain derivation. It first occurs in Malory's Morte d'Arthur as the name of the lover of Eluned , and seems to have been heavily altered from its original form, whatever that may have been (possibly the same as Geraint ; ). It is now very popular in Wales. Gary , which is actually an independent name, is often taken to be a pet form of it.
