When Hans Joensen Dahle was born on 23 October 1680, in Kvinnherad, Hordaland, Norway, his father, Joen Dahle Hansen, was 34 and his mother, Kari Jansen, was 33. He married Marita Larsen in 1709, in Kvinnherad, Hordaland, Norway. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 8 September 1760, in his hometown, at the age of 79.
