He married Valingi Vealakepa Fifita in 1940, in Nuku'alofa, Tongatapu, Tonga. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. He died on 26 October 2005, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, at the age of 88, and was buried in Australia.
