He married Hephzibah Chesley on 18 May 1796, in Granville Centre, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 11 daughters. He died on 10 March 1865, in Wilmot, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada, at the age of 91, and was buried in Kingston Cemetery, Kingston, Kings, Nova Scotia, Canada.
