Mary Huffman was born in 1804, in Virginia, United States as the daughter of John Hoffman and Catherine Hoffman. She married Nathaniel Manning Martin on 4 April 1825, in Berkeley, West Virginia, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 6 daughters. She lived in Center Township, Atchison, Kansas, United States in 1860. She died on 26 December 1890, in Dallas, Polk, Oregon, United States, at the age of 86, and was buried in Dallas, Polk, Oregon, United States.

1812 · Monumental Church Built

The Monumental Church was built between 1812-1814 on the sight where the Richmond Theatre fire had taken place. It is a monument to those that died in the fire.

1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.
