When John Thurmond was born in 1786, in Albemarle, Virginia, United States, his father, William Thurmond Sr., was 41 and his mother, Maccarina Norvell, was 36. He married Nancy Turner on 2 April 1817, in Lovingston, Nelson, Virginia, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 2 daughters. He died in 1841, in Virginia, United States, at the age of 55.

1786 · Shays' Rebellion

Caused by war veteran Daniel Shays, Shays' Rebellion was to protest economic and civil rights injustices that he and other farmers were seeing after the Revolutionary War. Because of the Rebellion it opened the eyes of the governing officials that the Articles of Confederation needed a reform. The Rebellion served as a guardrail when helping reform the United States Constitution.

On June 25, 1788 Virginia became the 10th state.
