When Peder Pedersen was born on 22 December 1793, in Ogna, Hå, Rogaland, Norway, his father, Peder Pedersen, was 27 and his mother, Marta Malena Eriksdatter Bø, was 25. He married Astrid Svendsdatter on 17 December 1815, in Nærbø, Rogaland, Norway. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 25 July 1867, in Nuuk, Kitaa, Greenland, at the age of 73.

1810 · Vaccinations

Royal order issued by the King of Norway and Denmark in 1810 required everyone to have a certificate of smallpox vaccination. This was also recorded in the Church records. 33

1814 · Syttende Mai (17th May)

Constitution declared Norway to be an independent kingdom to avoid being ceded to Sweden from Denmark. Celebrated by Norwegians & Norwegian-Americans on May 17th each year.
