When Jakob Evilsizer was born in 1750, in Kassel, Hesse, Germany, his father, Johann Jacob Eibelshauser, was 37 and his mother, Anna Elisabeth Grunewald, was 26. He married Anna Elisabeth Ibelshäuser in 1768, in Dodenhausen, Haina, Waldeck-Frankenberg, Hesse, Germany. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. He registered for military service in 1812. He died in 1818, in Keezletown, Rockingham, Virginia, United States, at the age of 68, and was buried in Rockingham, Virginia, United States.

Name Meaning

Americanized form of German Ibelshäuser: nickname for someone living in a bad house, from Middle High German ubele ‘bad, of poor quality’ + derivative agent of haus ‘inhabitant of a house’. Alternatively, Übelshaus may be a word for prison.
