When Semi Liu Panihea was born about 1830, in Ovaka, Vava'u, Tonga, his father, Soatame Tuku'aulahi Liu, was 21 and his mother, 'Asinate Kie Folau, was 19. He married Lesieli Vika Fotuapau'u about 1856, in Neiafu, Vava'u, Tonga. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 5 December 1892, at the age of 63, and was buried in Manuka, Tongatapu, Tonga.
