When Hans Peter Laursen was born on 13 August 1811, in Sejlstrup, Børglum, Hjørring, Denmark, his father, Lars Hansen, was 36 and his mother, Maren Mortensdatter, was 40. He married Zidsel Marie Christensdatter on 26 October 1832, in Lyngby, Hjørring, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 3 May 1900, in Rakkeby, Børglum, Hjørring, Denmark, at the age of 88.
